Reader Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5 stars)
A friend of mine lent this book to me, and I was so impressed. In a future where love is considered a dangerous disease, science has discovered a procedure that can permanently keep a human from feeling emotion. However, the procedure can only be performed once one has matured to the age of 18. When I tell you this book had me at the edge of my seat, I’m not kidding!!
Language: 9.5/10 (Swearing on the rarest of occasions).
Sex: 10/10 (No sexual content. Plenty of romantic tension, though).
Violence and gore: 8/10 (Not detailed or extensive).
Plot: 8/10 (So brilliant; I’ve been wanting to read a book like this for a while! A couple changes would’ve made it absolutely incredible).
Characters: 7/10 (The characters were humanly flawed and relatable, but some characters felt unnecessary…they might come up more later in the series, though!)
Writing style: 8/10 (Captured my attention and held it all the way through!)
Genre: Young adult literature, dystopian fiction
Is this book part of a series? Yes.
Potential triggers: Police (and police dog) brutality, mention of suicide.
The youngest I would recommend someone read this book is 12+.
