Disclaimer: I did not finish reading this book.
I had high hopes for this book, as I love a murder mystery, especially with a character from Manchester in it! (I served a mission there for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, so I got super excited). Unfortunately, the language was so frequently vulgar and the sexual content so regularly referred to that I felt extremely uncomfortable reading it, so I had to stop reading a couple chapters in.
Language: 1/10 (Swearing every other word).
Sex: 4/10 (Crude).
Violence and gore: 8/10 (Minimal violence, not detailed or extensive).
Plot: N/A (To be honest, I didn’t get far enough into the story to know much more than the characters and the fact that they had pasts that they were hiding. I don’t have much to go off of!)
Characters: 3/10 (I thought that characters felt a bit cliché, especially the ushers/groomsmen).
Writing style: 5/10 (Besides the constant swearing, I thought Foley’s style was good, and it encouraged me to keep reading).
Genre: Adult literature, realistic fiction, mystery
Is this part of a series? No.
Potential triggers: Self-harm and eating disorders.
I would not recommend this book to anyone looking for a clean read. However, the youngest person I would recommend this book to would be 18+.
