“Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens

It took a while for me to get excited about this book, but I’m so glad I kept reading. I genuinely enjoyed it, and found it moved me to tears multiple times. If you’ve ever felt lonely, mistreated, misunderstood, or vengeful, this book will touch your heart. 

Language: 7/10 (Occasional swearing).
Sex: 6.5/10 (Sexual content takes place several times, often in a tasteful manner, portrayed realistically).
Violence or gore: 9/10 (Minimal violence or gore).

Plot: 8.5/10 (I would definitely read this again. It may feel really slow in the beginning, but the way the events were portrayed ended up being perfect).
Characters: 9/10 (These main characters were so unique, so realistic, and beautifully crafted).
Writing style: 7/10 (Owens is a master with imagery! The only thing I didn’t love is how long it took me to get drawn into the story, but honestly, other than that, I was blown away).

Genre: New adult literature, adult literature, realistic fiction, historical fiction.
Is this book a series? No.
Potential triggers: Bullying, near-rape, etc.
