Reader Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5 stars)
I’ve never read a fictional book that has touched my heart so deeply. The tender depiction of God, Christ, and what it means to forgive taught me such a great deal and reminded me of just how grateful I really am to my Father in Heaven. An uplifting read for anyone wanting to love God a little more.
Language: 9/10 (Rare swearing…I think it only swears once).
Sex: 9/10 (It alludes only one time to the possibility of rape).
Violence and gore: 8/10 (A little girl is murdered, but there is no detail or violence).
Plot: 9/10 (The trials that Young puts his main character through are perfect for the message he is trying to convey about God’s love and God’s plan for His children).
Characters: 8/10 (Even though I don’t necessarily believe in the way that The Godhead was portrayed, I have to admit that Young did it in such a creative way).
Writing style: 8/10 (Captured my attention and held it through the whole book pretty consistently, even though I was skeptical at the beginning).
Genre: Young adult literature, adult literature, religious fiction
Potential triggers: Abduction and murder of main character’s daughter, abusive father, allusion to possible rape.
Is this book part of a series? No.
I would recommend this book to anyone 16+.
