“Love in the Time of Serial Killers” by Alicia Thompson

Book on table with coffee and eyeglasses

Reader Rating: ⭐⭐ (2/5 stars)

I admit it: I am a true crime junkie! I find it so fascinating. This book was a fun read combining romance with the twisted psychology of true crime, which I liked. However, the language and sex put a sour taste in my mouth. If those two aspects had been improved, I would’ve liked this book much more!

Language: 2/10 (Frequent and intense swearing).
Sex: 2/10 (Detailed glorification of immorality).
Violence and gore: 8/10 (Not detailed or extensive).

Plot: 6/10 (Not bad, but not great. I really expected there to be a lot more true crime in the story).
Characters: 7/10 (Sam’s character was so adorable, and Conner was precious, but Phoebe drove me insane).
Writing style: 5/10 (Too much swearing and sex for my taste, and I’ve read better prose).

Genre: Adult literature, realistic fiction, romance
Potential triggers: Suicidal ideation, references to murder, death of parents, divorce, etc.
Is this book part of a series? No.
I would recommend this book to people 20+ who don’t mind sexual content or foul language.
