One of my favorite books is written by Patrick Ness, so I knew I had to read this book when I came across it in the library. Little did I know that I’d be so captivated by it that I’d have it finished in a single day! Fans of science fiction everywhere will appreciate the vibrancy of Ness’ terrifying New World. 

Language: 6/10 (Occasional-frequent swearing or swear-adjacent).
Sex: 6.5/10 (References to sex without glorifying sexual misconduct).
Violence and gore: 3/10 (Unsettling depictions of violence and gore).

Plot: 9/10 (Genius! So unique and fascinating, managing to be both political and uncontroversial at the same time. Brilliantly done).
Characters: 10/10 (Completely realistic, believable, and moving. Felt like real people having a real experience with emotions anyone would be able to relate to).
Writing style: 9/10 (Ness has such a powerful mastery over the written word. Besides a few instances where the over-description lost my interest, I was captivated from start to finish).
