Reader Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5 stars)
This book was recommended by a friend a long time ago, so when I saw it sitting on a shelf in the library, I knew that was my chance to read it. I honestly enjoyed it! For those who are fans of sci-fi and dystopias (who aren’t overly sensitive to frequent but mild foul language), this book would definitely hit the spot.
Language: 3.5/10 (Frequent swearing).
Sex: 7/10 (Allusions to sex, mentions of sexual content).
Violence and gore: 4/10 (Glorifying violence).
Plot: 7/10 (Definitely felt like a mix between Ender’s Game, The Hunger Games, and even sometimes Harry Potter. The plot was great, but I did feel like while the worldbuilding was incredibly unique, the plot was not).
Characters: 8/10 (For the most part, the characters are realistic, but to remember that they’re all 16-18 years old, especially characters that weren’t forced to grow up quickly like the lowReds, it feels like they’re way too mature for their ages).
Writing style: 7/10 (I was kept interested from start to finish, but there were some parts I felt that were written too quickly and others too slowly).
Genre: Young adult literature, new adult literature, dystopian fiction, science fiction
Potential triggers: Loss of loved ones, murder, rape, attempted rape, etc.
Is this book part of a series? Yes.
I would recommend this book to mature readers 16+.
