“Instant Karma” by Marissa Meyer

Book cover

Reader Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5 stars)

This book has been on my TBR for a really long time, so I decided to listen to the audiobook. At first, I wasn’t too excited about it, but I didn’t want to quit partway through, so I stuck with it, and it totally grew on me. It became so sweet and endearing and reminiscent of my childhood. It’s definitely written for younger readers (12-16 years old), but for older audiences, it is a fun walk down a feel-good memory lane.

Language: 7/10 (Occasional swearing).
Sex: 10/10 (No sexual content).
Violence and gore: 9.5/10 (Minimal-to-no violence and gore).

Plot: 7/10 (Written for younger audiences, but I am a sucker for enemies to lovers).
Characters: 6/10 (Prudence drives me a little insane, but her relationship with Quint is really adorable!)
Writing style: 8/10 (Meyer is insanely gifted at making you feel like part of the story, and her ability to write in a character’s distinct voice is incredible.)

Genre: Young adult literature, realistic fiction, fantasy, closed-door romance
Potential triggers: Endangered animals, theft, betrayal, etc.
Is this book part of a series? Yes and no. There are more books in the same world, but starring different characters.
I would recommend this book to readers 10+.
