“Project Hail Mary” by Andy Weir

Reader Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 stars)

This book had me shook. I read it so fast and then didn’t know what to do with my life afterward. It’s definitely the kind of book that stays with you long after you’ve finished it. It’s amazing. Definitely purchase-worthy, and re-read worthy!!

Ryland Grace, a middle school science teacher, wakes up on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or why he’s there. Little does he know that he is the world’s last hope before the sun goes dark and the world freezes over entirely.

Language: 8/10 (Infrequent swearing).
Sex: 7/10 (Rare, in-passing mentions of sex).
Violence and gore: 9/10 (Minimal violence or gore).

Plot: 10/10 (Ummm…I could not put this book down. I was riveted the moment I read the first page, and my interest only increased from there).
Characters: 10/10 (Ryland Grace is not your average protagonist, and neither is Rocky. Their friendship is incredible, and I thought they complemented each other really well).
Writing style: 9.5/10 (I’m not a scientist, so a lot of the math and scientific experiments explained in the story went over my head, but it did not diminish my love for the novel, and it sometimes even helped me better understand how realistic the story could actually be).

Genre: Science fiction
Potential triggers: Isolation, loss of loved ones, impending apocalypse, etc.
Is this book part of a series? No.
I would recommend this book to anybody (with at least a pretty good appreciation for science) 15+.
