“The Dead Romantics” by Ashley Poston

Book on blue fabric

Reader Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 stars)

This book hit so close to home for me, and I absolutely adored it. Like, so much so that I’m tempted to gatekeep it. (I won’t because it deserves all the hype!!) If you’re a fan of romances and books about the depth of human emotion, don’t walk, run to your nearest bookstore and purchase this book!!

Language: 5/10 (Middle/high school hallway-level swearing).
Sex: 4/10 (Sex mentioned, one explicit sexual scene).
Violence and gore: 9/10 (Minimal violence and gore).

Plot: 10/10 (Heartbreakingly endearing plot. We’ve all endured grief before, and Poston captures the emotions so perfectly).
Characters: 10/10 (Heaven help me, this MMC is perfect. And Florence—I don’t think I’ve ever related to a character more in my whole life).
Writing style: 9.5/10 (Besides all the foul language, she blew this out of the water. Absolutely magnificently done).

Genre: New adult literature, adult literature, realistic fiction, fantasy, romance
Potential triggers: Loss of loved ones, car accident, missed opportunity, murder, etc.
Is this book part of a series? No.
I would recommend this book to anyone (with a high vulgarity tolerance) age 16+.
