“Catch Me If You Can” by Frank W. Abagnale, with Stan Redding

Reader Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (4/5 stars)

This book is a fascinating read, especially knowing it actually took place! I’ve always loved the movie and the musical adaptations, but the real story is way crazier. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone trying to get into nonfiction, because this story doesn’t feel real (in the best way)!

Language: 7.5/10 (Occasional swearing).
Sex: 7/10 (References to sexual encounters, purposefully vague).
Violence and gore: 9/10 (Minimal violence and gore).

Plot: 8/10 (While this book captures the real-life story of a real-life crook, it definitely reads like fiction! It’s incredible what Frank managed to get away with for those few years he evaded the law).
Characters: 8/10 (Since it reads like fiction, a lot of the people in this story feel like characters, especially when it comes to Frank’s genius strategies for getting away with crime. Very few people can think as quickly on their feet as he can).
Writing style: 8/10 (I love reading nonfiction that feels like fiction, so this story was right up my alley. His language felt distinct and real while being lovely enough to keep my interest from start to finish).

Genre: Crime nonfiction, autobiography, memoir, adult literature, young adult literature, new adult literature
Potential triggers: Inhumane treatment of prisoners, etc.
Is this book part of a series? No. (But it has been made into a film and a musical, both of which I highly recommend!)
I would recommend this book to anyone 15+.
