“Burn” by Patrick Ness

Reader Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (5/5 stars)

Honestly, if you are looking for a book that keeps you on your toes, where you never know what’s going to happen next, you have to read this book. It has fantasy, real history, science fiction, etc. etc. etc. I couldn’t put it down.

Language: 7/10 (Occasional swearing).
Sex: 6/10 (Allusions to sex).
Violence and gore: 5/10 (Action movie-esque).

Plot: 9/10 (Distinct and unique plot that gets a little complicated, but in the best way!)
Characters: 8/10 (Some characters are very two-dimensional, but for the most part, they’re each bright and vibrant and fascinating. I love how the races and sexuality of the main characters played such active roles in the story in very plot-essential ways).
Writing style: 10/10 (I’ve never been disappointed by a Patrick Ness novel).

Genre: Young adult literature, historical fiction, science fiction, fantasy
Potential triggers: Racism, loss of loved ones, discrimination based on race and sexuality, murder, etc.
Is this book part of a series? No.
I would recommend this book to anyone 16+.
