Reader Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (5/5 stars)
This story had me in a chokehold from start to finish, had me questioning my gut instincts the whole time. Knox’s plot, voice, and structure developed into a maddeningly chilling adventure that forces readers to look at victims and perpetrators of violent crime in a totally new way.
Language: 4/10 (Frequent swearing).
Sex: 4/10 (Regular mentions of sex).
Violence and gore: 4/10 (Disturbing but only rarely overly-detailed).
Plot: 9.5/10 (I loved the plot, but I had questions about Fintan’s ending and was upset about Zoe’s.)
Characters: 10/10 (I loved Kim’s and Andrew’s arcs, loved Fintan’s complexity, and loved Jai’s redemption. Also, the way that Knox inserts himself into the story as a character is fascinating, reminding me a bit of Anthony Horowitz’s murder mysteries).
Writing style: 9/10 (I was hooked from page one all the way until the end. And the book’s structure was so unique!)
Genre: Adult literature, new adult literature, murder mystery
Potential triggers: Inappropriate father-daughter relationships, betrayal, murder, kidnapping, drug abuse, familial abuse, etc.
Is this book part of a series? No.
I would recommend this to readers 20+.
