I’m not sure exactly what possessed me to take this book home from the library, but whatever it was, I’m grateful for it! This book surprised me by being such a delicious read despite being geared toward younger audiences. I highly recommend this novel to those who enjoy exploring dark themes and creepy concepts in safe, endearing ways.

Language: 10/10 (No swearing).
Sex: 10/10 (No sexual content).
Violence and gore: 8/10 (Minimal violence, infrequent and mild gore).

Plot: 10/10 (The creativity demonstrated in this novel is phenomenal! What a fascinating concept that was explored so beautifully!)
Characters: 10/10 (Unique and well-suited for the story’s needs! I especially loved the representation embodied by sign language in the novel).
Writing style: 10/10 (I have never been disappointed by a book by V. E. Schwab. Her writing style is lyrical and moving, keeping readers hooked from page one).
