Reader Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (3/5 stars)
This short story collection made me smile. What an adventure it was, experiencing a blackout alongside cute, distinct characters full of real-world anxieties and spunk. I had fun reading these stories and would not be opposed to reading more by these authors in the future!
Language: 6/10 (High school hallway language).
Sex: 8/10 (Rare and mild references to sex).
Violence and gore: 10/10 (No violence or gore).
Plot: 6/10 (A collection of sweet, reconciliatory love stories between high school-aged characters has the tendency to run a little cliché, but overall, most stories remained interesting throughout!)
Characters: 6/10 (Each character felt unique, and it was fun that most of their stories were connected to another in some way. However, some of those miscommunication tropes that came up rubbed me the wrong way).
Writing style: 6/10 (Most stories were constructed beautifully, while others didn’t shine as brightly!)
Genre: Young adult fiction, short fiction, Black literature, women’s literature, romance, realistic fiction
Potential triggers: Fear of heights, claustrophobia, city-wide blackout, breakups, etc.
Is this book part of a series? No.
