Reader Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ (2/5 stars)
This book had popped up on my Instagram feed several times, so I thought it time to give it a read. The story was endearing, and the concept driving the plot was interesting, but overall, the final product didn’t impress me. The editor in me cringed at every typo. A younger audience would probably eat this up, but from an adult perspective, the story could have improved with another draft or two to iron out the wrinkles.
Language: 10/10 (No swearing).
Sex: 10/10 (No sexual content).
Violence and gore: 10/10 (No violence or gore).
Plot: 7/10 (A fascinating concept, but the pacing was all off, and some things that happened in the novel were unrealistic. What school gives out yearbooks five months prior to graduation?)
Characters: 4/10 (Very flat characters. Lots of clichés).
Writing style: 4/10 (I noticed so many typos, and the product felt unpolished, but it wasn’t a bad story overall).
Genre: Young adult literature, new adult literature, realistic fiction, fantasy, drama
Potential triggers: Loss of loved ones, rejection, etc.
Is this book part of a series? No, but there is a story written following a different character from this novel.
I would recommend this book to readers 12+.
