Reader Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (3/5 stars)
This book was an entertaining read, but not one I’m likely to pick up again. The book blurb felt a little misleading. However, I still had a good time taking in the story, even if it didn’t always feel realistic.
Language: 8.5/10 (Mild/rare swearing).
Sex: 8/10 (Rare mentions of sex).
Violence and gore: 9/10 (Minimal violence and gore).
Plot: 6/10 (I loved the female-empowered family togetherness of this novel. Otherwise, the plot was fairly cliché. Plus, some of the events that happened just seemed a bit over-the-top dramatic).
Characters: 7/10 (The characters were different from each other in fun ways, and they gave life to the “typical murder mystery” feel, but a few of the characters felt unrealistic, and character decisions seemed forced).
Writing style: 6.5/10 (Not my favorite, but not bad. I think the resolution didn’t feel completely satisfying, but I did love how realistic the author made the experience of living as a cancer patient. It felt authentic).
Genre: Murder mystery, adult fiction, new adult fiction, women’s fiction
Potential triggers: Murder, family discord, unexpected pregnancy, loss, cancer, etc.
Is this book part of a series? No.
I would recommend this book to readers 17+.
