Reader Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (4/5 stars)
I had a blast reading this book. I thought the main character was unique and moving. For those of you who might not know, a ghostwriter is a writer hired by individuals to author written works “as” the client. I loved that not only is the main character a ghostwriter, but the author herself has ghostwritten multiple things herself! It’s a field she knows a lot about, and that shines through.
If you’re a fan of murder mysteries, stories about uncovering family secrets, and really well-written prose, you should give this book a read!
Language: 7/10 (Occasional swearing).
Sex: 9/10 (Accurate depictions of reality in a tasteful manner; allusions to sex).
Violence and gore: 8/10 (Not detailed or extensive).
Plot: 9/10 (Kept me interested and turning pages from start to finish!)
Characters: 8/10 (I loved the uniqueness of having the main character be a ghostwriter! The other characters were sometimes cliché, especially the parents, but overall, I thought the people felt very human).
Writing style: 8/10 (Very well-written and deliberate. I was only drawn out of the story but phrases a couple of times throughout).
Genre: Murder mystery, adult literature
Potential triggers: Alcoholism, drug usage, rape, murder, abortion, young people being taken advantage of by authority figures, etc.
Is this book part of a series? No.
