Reader Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (4/5 stars)
Not only did I have the great privilege of reading this novel before its publication, but I was lucky enough to have a chance to work with Gable again on this shining star of a sequel! I had a blast working on this because the story is just an amazing demonstration of the power of plot momentum. The novel takes the wonderful pieces left in book one and propels them forward in fun, interesting new ways. I’m so impressed by the way this turned out, and I’m so proud to have my name tied to Gable’s when it comes to the plot of this story. Sign me up for book three!
Language: 9/10 (Mild/rare swearing).
Sex: 10/10 (No sexual content).
Violence and gore: 8/10 (Minimal violence/gore, not detailed or extensive).
Plot: 8/10 (This book definitely raises the stakes several notches from the first book! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes in book three).
Characters: 8/10 (We get some great additional depth to the characters we know and love from book one, and a few of the new characters bring some great new flavors into the mix that I deeply enjoyed).
Writing style: 8/10 (Holyoak is incredibly talented when it comes to his writing. There were a couple of scenes that came across a little forced, but honestly, they’re such small issues against how great the rest of the book is. This book’s definitely another wonderful step forward for Holyoak).
